Hat Day in absentia - for Wellington Women's Refuge
On Thursday and Friday I am out of the office on a training course and I would still like to participate in the Hat Day but with a twist - I am offering to wear a hat to my course for a good cause - Women's Refuge.
If the total sponsorship pledges I have received by email by 5pm Thursday 24 May are:
- pathetic (i.e. <$5) I will wear a slightly silly hat for 1 hour during the course
- supportive (i.e. $5 to $40) I will wear a slightly silly hat for the duration of the course on Friday
- very supportive (i.e. $40.01 to $150) I will wear a fairly silly hat for the duration of the course on Friday
- amazingly generous (i.e. >$150) I will wear a pretty ridiculous hat for the duration of the course on Friday
I'm feeling smug with this solution to my dilemma.
And if you, my lovely reader, want to sponsor this silliness for a worthy cause you may, the deadline is Thursday 5pm NZST. You can make your sponsorship donation by credit card at the NZ Women's Refuge site online and just email me the amount.

I say we raise $500 and make her wear a gorilla suit.
I had received pledges totalling $23 for Wellington Women's Refuge towards wearing a hat to my course. Unfortunately the course has been cancelled. However I am now offering to make up for the humiliation of not wearing a silly hat at a public training course I am offering to substitute the humiliation of wearing not just a hat but an entire costume to work tomorrow.
My new offer: if the total sponsorship pledges I have received by email by 5pm Thursday 24 May are:
- supportive (i.e. $5 to $40) I will wear a costume all day at work tomorrow (e.g. a sari)
- very supportive (i.e. $40.01 to $150) I will a fairly silly costume all day at work tomorrow
- amazingly generous (i.e. $150.01 to $500) I will wear a ridiculous costume all day at work tomorrow
- stupendously generous (i.e. >$500) I will wear a gorilla suit (if I can get one) all day at work tomorrow
I've raised $598.50 so far so the gorilla suit it will be :-)
That's beautiful! I hope you don't overheat in the suit.
Okay... I missed all the fun about the gorilla suit..... I need to subscribe to your comments.... I use bloglines as my aggregator, but it doesn't do comments I don't think... Clearly, I need to understand it better. I saw your pictures, but I didn't see all this..... Argh.
Great job though!
